The Alfred Hospital Nurses League was established in 1918 by senior nurses to ensure that nurses could establish a permanent link with their nursing school and the friends they had made there.

Janet commenced as Executive Director Nursing Services & Chief Nursing Officer on 1 July 2011. Prior to this appointment Janet worked for 11 years at Caulfield Hospital in several positions including Manager of Education, Manager of Quality, ADON Residential Care. ADON Subacute Services, and DON Caulfield Hospital. Janet was born in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) and worked for several years as clinical educator, university lecturer, nurse consultant and nurse manager before relocating to Melbourne with her husband and three daughters.
In her current role Janet is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the professional leadership of Alfred Health Nurses and the management of Nursing Services, Allied Health Services, Women & Children's Program, and Residential Care. Janet has a track record of implementing clinical and quality care initiatives, developing nursing workforce strategies, and has a particular interest in care of older persons and interdisciplinary practice development.
